Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She is the youngest woman and also the first woman to receive an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982. She spent her early years shuttling back and forth between London and New Delhi. As a teenager, her first show was in New Delhi took place. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded a high-school certificate. Anouskha still has a promising music and acting career, even though she's young. She regularly accompanies her father during performances, something she's done for a number of years. Her debut single album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Apart from performing in many of the biggest venues as well, she has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka isn't just a musician. She published Bapi The love of my life in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she is expected to accomplish many amazing things in the near future. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her childhood in London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended the high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration she made her debut playing the sitar in front of the audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of experiences appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and making recordings with George Harrison. The youngest female to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her musical talent and artistic ability within performing in the Asian Arts.
